Ethics is an important cross-cutting aspect of all scientific research and development activities, and ethical aspects play a fundamental role from the planning and application phase through to project implementation and completion.
Funding bodies such as the EU Commission consider ethical aspects to be an integral part of all research activities and adherence to ethical principles is seen as crucial to achieving true excellence in research.  An ethics self-assessment is mandatory when submitting an application for almost all funders and successful project applications are subject to an additional ethical screening by independent expert committees. For Horizon Europe project appllications the review begins with a screening, which is followed, if necessary, by an ethics assessment.  If ethical issues are identified during this process, the EC may require applicants to appoint an ethics advisor or an ethics committee.
By this, the EU Commission will ensure that EU-funded research projects comply with fundamental ethical principles and protect the rights and interests of research participants and society.
Ethics advisors are essential to strengthen trust between the scientific community and the public, improve the quality of research, ensure that societal impacts are properly considered and ultimately help ensure that research has a positive societal impact.

We offer you support in your projects for compliance with the relevant ethics requirements by working with you as an ethics advisor or member of the ethics committee.

Whether you pursue a career in academia or seek a new career track outside the academic environment, professional skills enhance your chances when looking for job opportunities.

During our training course we will raise the participants awarenes for the broad spectrum of potential employment sectors inside and outside the academic setting and use real world examples to analyse employers’ requirements. Awareness of the needs of non-academic employers will enable you to increase your portfolio by additional training targeted to their needs.

By applying the potential compass we analyse personal strengths of the participants and enable them to reflect particular strengths and specific gaps in their skill portfolio.  This will help to discover existing talents and will provide guidance to extend as yet undeveloped talents.

This will create new opportunities and increase your chances for success.

Would you like to know more about your talents? Then write to coaching[at]sb-sciencemanagement.com and ask for consultation.
